I’ve been telling stories for as long as I can remember - and I mean that quite literally, because I don’t recall a time I wasn’t completely obsessed with words.

My Year 1 report card said: “The class enjoys listening to Lauren’s poems.” Which is particularly funny considering I hadn’t yet mastered the art of writing them.

Now, I use that same obsession with words alongside my passion for people, connection and storytelling in a very different way - as a Civil Marriage Celebrant and Business Strategist within the wedding industry.

    I started my business in 2021. I did two weddings towards the end of the year, while I was working full-time in Marketing. Right from the start, my ultimate goal was to quit my 9-5 and do Wedding Chats full time.

    While I had that dream, I thought it was probably never going to be my reality.

    Something I was really nervous about was pricing. Wedding Chats was an original idea, and understandably, I wasn’t sure how to price a concept that didn’t exist yet. I started out charging less than a quarter of what I do now.

    Without Loz helping me to see the value in myself, the unique service I offer, and the end product I deliver, I would have never had the confidence to charge what I’m worth or have the opportunity to take Wedding Chats full time.

    Loz also taught me the importance of identifying and tailoring my branding towards my target market. A really important conversation I had with her was around offering a premium service at a premium rate, rather than charging a low fee and trying to cram 100 weddings into each year.

    Now, two and a half years down the track, I have 51 events booked for 2024 (so far), I travel all around Australia to interview wedding guests and this year, I have my first international wedding in Greece.

    I’ve also built a team of five Wedding Chatters who spread joy and love by capturing beautiful emotions at weddings, parties and events. It’s fantastic.

    A few years ago, some vendor friends told me about the copywriting service Lozzy offers. I thought it was really cool and I saw the value in it, but I was hesitant because Loz has such a big, excited voice and I didn’t feel like that tone matched my business.

    Recently I went over my website and decided that my ‘About Me’ section wasn’t aligning with the rest of my brand. I had a beautiful portfolio, a high minimum spend and cool clients were enquiring with me. I just felt like my ‘About Me’ wasn’t explaining who I am, what my values are, why I do what I do, or telling a story about my business. It didn’t make sense.

    I’m good at flowers. I’m not good with words. They’re just not my thing, so I knew it was time to call Lozzy.

    When we caught up for coffee, it was super casual. We just sat down and started to chat. I showed her the copy I had and explained how I wanted my ‘About Me’ section to make people feel. I told her I wanted to explain why I love creating flowers, why I love doing weddings and identify the type of people I like working with.

    The coolest thing about it was that Loz took the initiative to write my story in three different parts, outlining where I came from, how Film and Foliage was built and what I like to create for couples now, which is an amazing journey for a client to take.
